SSAPP type heating cables are resistive wire, twin conductor (two cores) heating cables, robust and round in cross section with a core made of electro-resistant alloy or copper (depending on cable length). The cables have a three-layer insulation and a conductive sheath made of aluminum foil, with a protective conductor made of tinned copper. This construction gives them excellent durability.

Their main advantage is the temperature-resistant outer sheath that allows them to be installed in asphalt (the cables can withstand temperatures up to 200 °C for up to 180 minutes).

They are designed for per unit length loads of up to 40 W/m, but if the cable has a good thermal connection to the surrounding medium (for example if the cable is installed in concrete) the per unit length load can be increased up to 50 W/m.

Technical specification

type: resistive-wire, twin conductor heater
core: electro-resistive alloy or copper (depending on cable length)
maximum load: 40 W / m (up to 50 W/m in concrete)
maximum allowable temperature: 90 °C
cross section: circular, Φ 10.1 to 10.3 mm
advantages: robustness, high per unit length power, resistance to higher temperatures
application areas: snow melting when installed asphalt or other surfaces, protection against freezing of gutters, drains and vertical drains
specific resistances of heating cables ρ [Ω/m]: 0.048; 0.078; 0.1; 0.12; 0.16; 0.2; 0.28; 0.36; 0.4; 0.5; 0.6
